TRANSCRIPTION OF CONFERENCE, H.J. EASTERMAN, CLYDE PERRY.
[Minutes 5-7]
PERRY: Sure. I think your words were "fountainhead" and "charisma?"
EASTERMAN: Are you familiar with Adolf Hitler?
PERRY: I head off[sic] the guy, yeah.
EASTERMAN: Carl Jung saw both Hitler and Mussolini speak at a rally. Mussolini was boisterous, strong, cheerful. Everybody liked him.
PERRY: Charismatic.
EASTERMAN: No. Emphatically not. Mussolini was merely popular. A "Strong Man." There's nearly one in every room. Hitler, on the other hand, was withdrawn, uncomfortable, an unattractive little man. Until he began speaking. At which point Jung described him as a "Psychic Scarecrow." All of Hitler's ranting, his spastic gestures and shrill voice. He seemed like a man possessed.
PERRY: You want me to find you crazy people.
EASTERMAN: No, no, no. I want somebody you can put in a sane crowd and ten minutes later have a mob of lunatics. I want witch doctors.
PERRY: How many Hitlers you looking for total?
EASTERMAN: As many as you can find. As I said, they're exceedingly rare.
PERRY: Thank god.""
