TRANSLATOR- Mr. Kusamura is trying to explain, The Kress Sister isolated the effect of the synthesized mescaline on different receptors for, ah... I am confused by the word...
KUSAMURA- "Sar-a-to-nin"
AVELLANOS- Saratonin.
KUSAMURA- Saratonin! (JAPANESE)
TRANSLATOR- He says it's like in cactuses that cult leaders use. Peyote. They've separated the visual phenomenon from the altered sense of self and time.
KUSAMURA- (JAPANESE)
TRANSLATOR- It allows for a non-visual psychadelic[sic] effect focused soley[sic] on the sense of self.
KUSAMURA- (JAPANESE)

TRANSLATOR- He calls it "Kress Precursor." It creates long-term fissures in the personality that can be filled in by brainwashing.
AVELLANOS- What about the more immediate effects?
KUSAMURA- (JAPANESE)
TRANSLATOR- It's like Peyote. Vomiting. Physical weakness. A vague but overwhelming sense of hopelessness.
AVELLANOS- Lovely. Tell Mr. Kusamura that I don't want to have to hear about his research from voices outside Sinyala anymore. If I hear he's telling Gottlieb things before he tells me, there are going to be consequences."
