"We will scourge the flesh from the living carcasses of the rich; their filthy gold will build our kingdom."
―Sister Liliya Bogomolova

Sister Liliya Bogomolova, the Beloved of God, is a Prime Asset and one of the antagonists in The Outlast Trials. She is a Russian orphan raised in the clergy and a survivor of the Siege of Leningrad. Her experiences in both have molded her into an Evangelicalist with a Messiah complex and a violent ambush predator able to hide and camouflage herself. She possesses an unusual hypnotic quality she uses to build a cult-following and manipulate people into doing her bidding.

Background[]

Born to Russian landowners that were exiled during the revolution, Liliya Bogomolova was presumably abused by her mother, who starved her and locked her in a homemade prison before mysteriously dying. She was then taken to Saint Gaspar’s orphanage, where she behaved in a feral manner and grunted like an animal. She learned to speak quite quickly and made a following with the other orphans. She is obsessed with the Bible and said she was guided by the voice of God in her teenage years, causing her to return to Leningrad and defend her homeland.[1][2]During the Siege of Leningrad, She survived for three years, disappearing in shadows and under frozen corpses. She was said to be protected by God, as long as she was doing his work.

After Germany began retreating from Leningrad, she was captured by a Nazi (Obergruppenführer) officer. Whilst he was trying to restrain her, she cut his face, to which he cut off her hand as punishment. She cursed him, so he cut her tongue out as well. It is highly implied by George Nichols that she was tortured or sexually assaulted while they were on the rat line to the Mediterranean.

The night before she was to be dragged onto a boat to Argentina, she prayed in Genoa, and she gained the miracle of her tongue growing back. With her newfound ability to speak with the tongue of God, she convinced the other bodyguards and staff to hold the man down while she cut off his foot. She then walked out of Genoa and into the forests of Eastern Europe where she was said to have "lost" years, similar to Jesus Christ. Villagers and travelers reported finding corpses transformed into religious statuary.

Years later, fortunes began vanishing. Wealthy and funded people would suddenly spend all of their money before disappearing, only for their mutilated corpses to resurface later. One of them being socialite and playboy millionaire Jacque Trégouët. His Valet would do the same, but he lived to tell the tale.[3][4] George Nichols was sent to investigate the disappearances, and after searching estates and crime scenes, he found her. After listening to her, George cut off his arm, leg, and mutilated a portion of his face. She then allowed him to bring herself in to Mount Massive Asylum.[5]

During her stay, she caused many former staff to become patients, cutting out their tongues after telling her stories. In the first six months, she caused them to lose nearly twenty percent of their budget and ten percent of staff members due to self mutilation, suicide, and blades she kept hidden for the ones that did not fall for her manipulation. In 1960, Silas Knisely would organize Liliya's transfer to the Sinyala Facility where she would be inducted as a new Prime Asset for Project Lathe.

Physical Description[]

Prior to her induction into Project Lathe, Sister Liliya appeared in The Murkoff Collections as a young Slavic woman with black medium-long hair and pale skin. She sported numerous scars on her face obtained from her time in the Siege of Leningrad, and her right forearm is missing, as it had been cut off by a Nazi officer. Notably, Liliya had an unusual tongue which is reported to have grown back after the aforementioned Nazi officer had allegedly cut it out. Her tongue possessed an almost serpentine quality, such as a missing the lingual frenulum and a gastrostege pattern along the tongue's muscles.

As a Prime Asset, Liliya's overall appearance is based on an intimidating ornate mannequin, matching other mannequins in her debut trial, making it easier to blend in among them. Unlike other members of the Ex-Pop, all of her deformities such as her facial scarring, tongue and missing right forearm are not visible, as her body is entirely covered up by dark skin-tight clothing, jewelry such as a pearl necklace, golden chains adorned with rubies, and a mannequin suit. She wears a one-piece corset with patterned tights underneath, and matching thigh high stockings. She wears long black gloves on her left arm that almost reaches her shoulder. Much of Liliya's upper body, including her breasts, is exposed, but her skin has been painted in gold to help her blend in with her mannequins.

She wears a mask that displays a face on both sides of her head, making it difficult to tell the direction she is facing at first glance. From the back side of Liliya's head is the golden face of smiling woman similar to an Venetian ornate mask. Liliya's real face is covered by a mask made of dark tights wrapping around her head, a gold ruby emblem covering her right eye, and a set of clenched golden teeth over her mouth. Additionally, Liliya appears to wear a spiked halo-shaped crown over her head, decorated with black flowers at the sides.

Sister Liliya's wields two signature weapons she will use with deadly proficiency against the Reagents. The first weapon is a retractable, bayonet-style blade attached to a prosthetic covering where her right forearm used to be. Attached to Liliya's chest is an additional prosthetic hand holding a rosary, which primarily functions as a sheath for the prosthetic blade. The second weapon are a set of razor sharp talon-like claws worn over the fingers of her left hand, which she uses to slash Reagents whenever she grabs hold of them.

Characteristics[]

Stealthy and precise, Sister Liliya's behavior is somewhat different from other Prime Assets, in that she does not always roam the area endlessly to look for the Reagents. Instead, she patiently hides and attacks if a Reagent comes near her or turns their back to her, staying quiet unless she is actively chasing someone. She speaks with a hissing cackle, with a delayed echo effect on her voice. Compared to other Prime Assets, she has the unique ability of holding Reagents in submission (similar to a Pouncer or the charged attack of Imposters), forcing the Reagents to throw her off in an attempt to stop her attack, otherwise she will kill them. This can be done quicker if the attacked Reagent has a brick or bottle in their inventory, another Reagent interrupting her attack, or if the Evasive Maneuver amp is used.

Her aggressive actions are much quieter, precise and careful compared to other pursuing Ex-Pop. Once she has lost a target, she will enter a hiding place (also similar to a Pouncer) and attack anyone that gets too close or turns their backs to her. If she is surrounded by the similar looking mannequins in the Resort, it can be tricky to spot her unless she is moving. Once she stops moving and acts like a mannequin, the Reagents cannot properly ping her, as it will be similar to pinging a standard mannequin, rather than the Prime Asset herself. This makes it nearly impossible to tell her apart from the other mannequins unless one sees her glowing eyes or bloodied eyes (from Enraged Enemies and Don't Make Noise variator), moving naturally, or notice an extra mannequin in the same area.

When there are no Reagents nearby, Liliya will be forced to retreat to insertion gates and reappear in the same area where the Reagents are. After her redeployment, Liliya will be roaming briefly before hiding or blending into an environment as the mannequin. When she is roaming nearby, the Reagents will be able to hear her natural voice (not accompanied by her delayed echo effect) and the jewelry sounds from her suit. When Liliya sees or hears a Reagent nearby, she can sometimes break from her stealth behavior and attempt to sneak into their last known location or start a chase if she can see them.

The X-Ray rig can help sharp-eyed Reagents distinguish which one is the real Liliya; although her fake mannequins also share the same skeletons, one of the mannequins' bones will be missing, whereas Liliya's bones will not. However, using bricks to check whether her mannequins are her or not can also waste its charge. The Jammer rig is her greatest weakness since it can always highlight her even when she hides near her mannequins or using the hiding spots.

Story[]

The Outlast Trials[]

Player death animation[]

  • Liliya will stab at the Reagent's face, knocking them on their back. She will then leap on the Reagent, who puts both of their hands up in an attempt to stop her attack, but Liliya stabs their chest five times before stabbing them in the face the final sixth time, killing them.
  • Liliya will stab into the back of the Reagent's left hand before moving to their back and stabbing them in the neck six times before dropping them.

Patch notes[]

December 12, 2025 (Project Messiah / Hotfix #1)

  • Fixed an issue where Liliya would enter a double hidespot where a player could already be standing in.
  • Fixed an issue where subtitles were not displayed in some situations.

Trivia[]

  • She is the first Prime Asset to have her face obscured, leaving her present day appearance a mystery.
  • She is the only Prime Asset to use hiding spots.
  • As of the Project Messiah update, Liliya is currently the only Prime Asset who does not appear in Solo Rebirth.
  • Liliya is currently the only Prime Asset who does not have any Prime Time dialogues.
  • Like the rest of the Prime Assets, Liliya gets her own unique ping icon instead of the standard skull icon for enemies. Her icon is her mannequin mask.
  • She is the only Prime Asset to not have an attack that can leave a lasting effect on the Reagents (i.e. Coyle's ability to temporarily disable rigs and Gooseberry's ability to cause bleeding) Although, the tradeoff to this is being able to hold the Reagents in submission when she pounces on them, forcing players to fight her off.
