The Mansion

The Mansion is a Trial environment that the Reagents enter for the Tutorial and the Reagent Release Program. It is located within the Sinyala Facility.

Throughout the Tutorial, the Reagents are symbolically shown different aspects of their life that they have learned, and that the levers represent abandoning that part of them.

Personnel[]

Locations[]

  • Entrance: The exterior of the mansion is similar to a Greek Revival style mansion, with large white pillars, and a large fenced off upstairs balcony. The outer most balcony above the entrance doors is broken, and corpses hang from it. There are also corpses on the steps leading up to the building. On both sides of the entry walkway are fences with barbed wire on top.
  • Nursery: The first room that the Reagents are guided to in the tutorial, inside is a mother mannequin bent over a crib trying to comfort a crying mannequin baby. There is a lever switch connected to it and two TV screens above the crib. This room represents Birth.
  • Playroom: The second room that the Reagents are guided to in the tutorial, inside is a father, mother, and son mannequin, with the son on a tricycle. There is also red wagon, a rocking horse, lever switch, and two TV screens. This room represents Joy and Instincts.
  • Den: The third room that the Reagents are guided to in the tutorial, the mother and son mannequins are kneeling in front of what is presumably the Bible. The father mannequin is standing to the right of the son mannequin with his belt in hand. They are in front of the fireplace, which has Jesus above the mantle, and two Mother Mary statues on either side. This room represents Goodness, Virtue, and Discipline.
  • Dining Room: This room is entered after leaving the Den, where the Reagents will see three boy mannequins motionless over several corpses as they hold knives. There is a lever switch that is broken at the end of the table. Continuing through the room will lead to the door to the kitchen. It is not confirmed what this room represents.
  • Kitchen: Entering from the Dining Room, upon opening the door a Pouncer will emerge from a closet and jump onto the Reagent. She takes 3 bars of health and it will prompt the Reagent to grab a large health from the back of the kitchen. There are a few corpses around the kitchen and blood smeared places. There is also a standard stove, a top down freezer, sink, and lots of cupboards and cabinets.
  • Theatre Lobby: Right before the Theatre, the Lobby is a small and lavish area. The double doors to the Theatre can be seen, and a single door that leads into a bathroom. The bathroom has a single toilet, a wide sink, and a long horizontal mirror.
  • Theatre: A rather large room, it is visually split in half to separate two sections of child mannequin seating. At the back of the room is a small puppet style theatre stage, with Mother Gooseberry's hand peaking from the red curtain with a green apple in her hand. There is a red carpet that extends from the entrance to the stage. After interacting with her hand, and subsequently earning Dr. Futterman's drill to the Reagent's own, they then leave through the right door. This room represents Imagination.
  • Gazebo: After leaving the Theatre, the Reagents will come upon the Gazebo. It is a white wooden one with a pointed ceiling supported by several pillars. Inside of it is a small table, one chair, a lever switch, and a woman and male mannequin dancing together in a continuous circle. This area represents Love. In the Reagent Release Program, this is the area to find the 2 keys, while a Night Hunter patrols the area.
  • Grinder: After making it upstairs, the grinder is located in the middle area, with all of the other hallways leading to different doors on all directions. It lies in front of the gated shuttle entrance/exit.
  • Public Records Office: Located at the top of the stairs and forward, it can be accessed by going through a bedroom, then a bathroom with glass on the floor. Inside is a nicely furbished office, with a male mannequin sitting at the desk and listening to the phone. On the desk is a contained box with the Murkoff logo on it, that opens after interacting with the lever switch.
  • Private Records Office: Located on the other side of the grinder and down a hallway, there is a small entry way before two double doors. Going through the doors leads to a Pusher gassing the Reagent, and leaving them to grab an antidote in a circle shaped hallway. After consuming it, Reagents must go through another door to reach the office. Inside there is a naked mannequin lying in agony on the desk with another mannequin wagging his finger at it. The desk has playing cards, poker chips, a personal toy, and the evidence box. Interacting with the lever switch grants Reagents the evidence.
  • Generator House: Located in the increased difficulty of the Reagent Release Protocol, the film projector now requires power to complete the protocol. Following the wires will lead out to a new area outside the main mansion, a smaller house complete with its own decorations. There is a pool with a Night Hunter roaming around and a statue of Jesus in the middle of the pool.

Trivia[]

  • Due to the broken switch in the Dining Room, it can be implied that it was supposed to serve another symbolic lesson in the Tutorial before being broken.
