Prescott Whitehorn is a Prime Asset and one of the antagonists in The Outlast Trials. He is a large, bald man with blood and wounds from the experiment. He appears to wear a self-made shoulder bandolier.

Background[]

Currently, there is very little information about Whitehorn besides a few documents mentioning him by name. He was only mentioned twice from the Project LATHE documents. However, he appears in some of the children's drawings and is titled Angry Man, implying that he is a feared figure, especially for children. Based on documents found in the trials he may have come from a wealthy family causing him to develop a cult of personality.[1] At some point in his past Whitehorn developed some kind of either personal or professional relationship with a congressman named Wallace.[2]

Sometime before Project LATHE 2, Whitehorn was admitted to the medical facility owned by Murkoff Corporation for treatment of STD through extensive surgery. His fate following the treatment remains unknown.[3]

Physical description[]

Whitehorn is a large, hulking man much taller than any other Prime Asset, resembling a similar height to The Big Grunts. He wears a torn outfit consisting of a black ribbon around his neck, a blood-stained white shirt, a brown jacket, a pair of black boots, and a pair of light cream pants. He has hazel-colored eyes with rashes and wounds across his head and face. He has no hair, and he walks almost limply.

Characteristics[]

Originally designed as an extremely wealthy and obscenely racist petroleum magnate, Prescott's life choices led him to Sinyala after a failed assassination attempt spurred its intended victim to cash in a favor from an old friend to ensure Whitehorn and his co-conspirators would be adequately punished. However, as the character's development progressed, his racism began to draw more similarities to existing Prime Asset Leland Coyle, so Whitehorn's slate was given to a completely new character, Franco Barbi; Whitehorn as he was intended but is unknown, but maybe he'll pop up to help Murkoff's friends in Africa.

Personality[]

Based on the documents, Whitehorn is written as a firm, grumpy, patriotic man who would defend his country at all costs. He is described as delusional and charismatic as Coyle and Gooseberry.

Player death animation[]

-When ripping the Reagents out of a locker, Prescott would grab them by the throat and punch them twice in the face, then throw them face-down onto the floor before stomping on their back; the Reagent would try and get up, at which point Prescott would walk around and stand in front of them before shoving his shotgun into their mouth and firing.

-Using a special Sneak Attack unique to himself, Prescott would have been able to get behind unaware Reagents before striking them over the head with his shotgun; after the third strike he would kick the Reagent in the back, knocking them to the floor, where Prescott would proceed with the above execution.

-If Prescott pinned a Reagent against a wall, he would grab their throat and lift them off the floor; at this point he could either simply shove his gun into their mouth and blow their head off, or throw them onto the floor before stomping repeatedly on their face.

-In certain areas of his dedicated map, Prescott would have been able to "curb-stomp" his victims.

Trivia[]

  • During Closed Beta, a picture frame of Whitehorn appeared in the Trial: Snitches Get Stitches (now called Kill the Snitch).
    • In Trials documentary, his picture frames have also appeared twice in the Orphanage but was never shown in the final version.[4]
  • As mentioned at the end of Toy Factory Dev Stream by Red Barrels, it was confirmed that Whitehorn has been scrapped or cancelled during its development; however there's some demand for Whitehorn to be included as the fourth Prime Asset but the third Prime Asset will be a completely new character which was later revealed to be Franco Barbi.[5]
  • After Whitehorn was officially dismissed by Red Barrels crew, his name is still mentioned twice in the evidence documents.
    • His name was also mentioned by one of the idle Grunts in the Docks map and his company name "Whitehorn Petroleum" can be seen in some industrial objects from various Trial environments.
    • According to one of the founders of Red Barrels, Whitehorn's absence in Project LATHE 2 was due to his temporary admission to a Murkoff Corporation medical facility for treatment of an STD. However, his current fate after this procedure remains unknown.[3]
  • Based on his animation leaks, it was theorized that Whitehorn was going to wield a shotgun that can shoot the Reagents from a distance. However, this mechanic has been repurposed for Franco Barbi.
