It's not for this wiki, but over on another where I'm also an Administrator. I would like to prevent anonymous users from editing pages, since there's more harm then good when they edit. So what I'm asking is, what can I do to permanently prevent them from adding content to the pages? I believe someone on The Walking Dead Wikia did the same and I was wondering if you by any chance know how?
Apparently, for this to be executed, we need to have a public discussion of whether or not anon users are allowed to edit, upon this you vote same as always, neutral, oppose or support. If we have a big enough discussion, we can send it to the wikia staff and they can apply this function. What are your thoughts on this?
Also, do you by any chance know how to create a placeholder tab, if not can you at least tell me what that is? I was asked to assist with this on another wiki and I have no idea what it could be.
If you believe this should be something executed for the wiki, then I assume to just highlight a forum and take a vote on it. Thing it, it seems nobody's too active on participating on community forums. But I suppose the active users get the chance to make changes to the wiki.
And I've never heard of a placeholder tab. I suggest asking the person who told you to do it.
IDK for the ones here, but I was thinking on doing this for another wiki. Problem is, not many are active there either. So if I start this, could you give a support for it, since anon users ruin the pages and I cannot run after them every single time.
Here's an example, we've seen a lot of sexual abuse in the game and nude characters, like the twins. People who like to troll over the wiki, swap specific words with sexually related ones to turn it into a completely different concept. In one of the wiki's, while looking over a page for a child character, someone added "Hmm, boy, I'd do her good". My best solution for this would be that when the whole wiki gets fully constructed, we simply lock the pages and leave it that way, until some new information comes our way.
Outlast especially got its prime popularity through YouTubers, including the most popular: PewDiePie. And most of PewDiePie's fanbase is either children or trolls, along with some other YouTubers. So with such, it can cause just pure mediocre edits with users with no account. So I can see where it comes from on this wiki. I also have a lot of pages that we still need to set up.
How do you add redirections to the wikia. Like, if someone searches here for or adds links to Murkoff, they can just click on that instead of having to add the full name of the page, Murkoff Corporation or just Red Barrels or RB, instead of Red Barrels Games?
