EDITED FOR CLARITY
[Minutes 4-5]
LAWLER: ...a potential, ah, wrinkle. You're aware of Hendrick Easterman's brother? The suicide.
AVELLANOS: Of course.
LAWLER: He cited Stanley Easterman's suicide as central to his interest in reprogramming. He believes Korean brainwashing during the war shattered his brother's psyche, directly leading to his death.
AVELLANOS: A tragic story.
LAWLER: Only his brother was rear guard. He was in accounting for the Quartermaster Corps, never even set foot in Korea. I guess Stanley had a perchance for hyperbole in his letters home.
AVELLANOS: Even if it's false, it's still a sad story. Brainwashing from a foreign menace driving his innocent, beloved brother to an early grave. The unsolvable tragedy. A useful fiction.
LAWLER: You don't seem surprised.
(note-- possible laughter)
LAWLER: What?"
